Josh

It's been a busy few months for this big 11 year old! I can hardly believe he's in 6th grade now and 11 years old. Where did my baby boy go?
The Hanks family has quite a few birthdays in August - so we had a big family party for all those special August kids! Josh shares a birthday with Great Grandma Hanks (right next to him). Fun times!
Josh got an electronic keyboard for his birthday this year. Daddy's idea and Daddy likes it a lot! So does Josh! It's pretty cool the things he can do with it.
The first day of school. Josh is in Mrs. Pangan's 6th grade class. So far it's been pretty good. Except for recess is before lunch - much complaints about that the first week of school but they are slowly adjusting.
Father and Sons Campout. LOTS of rain. While most of the kids hung out in the cars - Josh and his friend Miles got SOAKED! They loved it.
Geo caching with the cousins up at Cascade Springs. We have enjoyed geo caching a lot this summer.
Clear Creek is an outdoor experience the kids in 6th grade get to have. They have an overnight down by Scofield reservoir. Josh had a great time. He's still singing the songs he learned there. Even though mom was a tad nervous about it - Josh survived and it was a good experience for him.
Swinging on some rope contraption.
Piano recital. Sister Bearce is their teacher and we are so lucky to have her. She is amazing and I think the boys are liking her teaching style too. Josh is a wonderful piano player and did great at his recital. He got to play a duet with JD too - JD was more nervous then Josh. But they did super.
The boys were on a competitive soccer team this year. It was fun and there was a lot more competition. Our team didn't do so well - I think we won maybe 4 or 5 games, but we are a new team, so come spring time we will dominate! Josh played well. I think he scored 2 goals this season. He is a hussler and fun to watch!
And now, last but not least - on Saturday October 9, 2010 - Josh rode his bike 60 miles! And he did it is less then 8 hours. WOW! He, Miles and Jace, and their leaders did this for a merit badge. I am really proud of him and the boys. He said the middle was the worst but kept going. I am so impressed that these 11 year olds did this - they ROCK!
Josh is a great kid. At parent teacher conferences, his teacher had nothing but wonderful things to say about him. She said he is the student every teacher wants in their class. I love Josh - he is a light in our home and I love him so much. Oh and he's pretty funny too - he says he wants to be a comedian when he grows up! Oh boy!
