Career Day

The boys had career day at school last Friday. Josh knew exactly what he wanted to be - Mr. Hanks - a math teacher. It was really cute. He dressed up just like Daddy would for school - brown church pants and a collar shirt (tucked in too). He even wore a name tag that said "Mr. Hanks". Dawson on the other hand went through quite a list a careers. Fireman, astronuant, basketball player, etc. He finally settled on a basketball player. He wanted to wear a jersey and shorts to school but being the mother that I am I couldn't allow him to go outside in the freezing weather all day at school in shorts! So I made him wear sweats under and boy was that uncomfortable! He came home telling me how annoying that was to wear all day long! Oh well and least he was warm! (If anyone can help me figure out how to rotate this picture - I would gladly appreciate it. It is right side up in our library of picture but when I post it - it's not right! URG)

The Injury!!

Well Tuesday night JD did a number on his ankle playing basketball with the elders! I get a call about 10pm asking me to come and help him when he got home. I go downstairs and there he was hopping in on one foot and I could see already the his ankle was huge. Poor JD! He had been playing ball for about an hour when someone came in to play and had snow on their shoes. Needless to say that left a little puddle of water for JD to slip in as he goes up for a shot. Well with as much pain as he was in Tuesday night, he got up and went to work the next morning. When he headed to the office they gave him a pair of crutches and told him to stop by the trainer's classroom. She wrapped it up good and told him to see a doctor. Long story short - he has a bad sprained ankle but the doctor gave him a walking boot so at least he can walk around and have it protected. The fun never ends!

A Visit from T.F. (a.k.a. The Tooth Fairy)

Well Dawson at almost 7 years old has finally lost his first tooth. Yippee! We have all been hearing for about a week how sore his tooth was and how much it was bothering him. Of course there is not much to do for that problem so we all just endured the complaining. Dawson kept wiggling and the tooth kept getting more loose. Finally on Sunday after church it felt ready to come out and I asked if I could have one pull. He said yes if I wouldn't twist it. So I got my fingers on it and (bad bad mommy), I twisted it. And I thought I had pulled it out but infact I had just made it bleed and made him cry. The tooth was hanging by like one thread. So I felt bad and was trying to hug him better but he wouldn't come near me! Finally as he was watching a church movie and sucking on his wet washcloth he suddenly announces - "It's out!" And it was there in his washcloth. So that was our fun excitement for Sunday. The toothfairy left him $1.25 in quarters and he announced Monday morning that he wanted a real dollar! Ofcourse! Well we can't please everyone and the tooth fairy was short on cash!

Marissa's Blessing Day and Tanner's 4th Birthday

It was a busy weekend. Our little girl Marissa Robin was blessed in our ward's fast and testimony meeting on Sunday. It was so fun to dress her in her little white dress. She looked like an angel. Marissa started to fuss right when the men gathered around her. JD waited to see if she would calm down and she did. Grandpa Farrell was the designated binky holder. She didn't make a peep through out her blessing. JD was so happy. The boys really cried throughout each of their blessings. JD gave her a beautiful blessing and the Spirit was there with us. JD was also conducting the meeting so he was able to share his testimony first. As soon as he was done Grandpa Hanks got up and shared his testimony. Then our Josh got up there and shared his sweet testimony. Towards the end of the meeting Grandpa Seastrand also got up and so we had 4 generations from JD's family who bore their testimonies at the same meeting. That was pretty cool - how often does that happen? Just an interesting side note. I was really worried about Marissa spitting up on her beautiful dress - so after sacrament meeting I fed her and then decided to change her clothes into another dress. As soon as I did she spit up several times. Then I was sitting in Primary and I felt a rumble and next thing I know she has exploded her diaper. Poop all the way up her back. Boy am I glad I got her out of her blessing dress! What a day!

Tanner turned 4 years old on Monday the 14th. He had been counting down for several weeks. He had his first friend birthday party Monday afternoon. We only invited 2 friends and 3 cousins. We all know how birthday parties can go when things get too crazy with too many kids. Well he had a great time. We played lots of games and even had a treasure hunt. All in all it turned out well without any major meltdowns. It was funny though when we were playing pin the tail on the donkey. Each kid was able to go twice and Tanner's friend Xander missed the mark pretty far his first time so when it was his turn to go again, JD went to put the blindfold on him and he said "No I want to see". Then he proceeds to the donkey and precisely puts his tail exactly on the right spot. Funny kids! Tanner is excited to be 4 and tells everyone that he is 4 now. It is hard to believe that my baby boy is really that old! They grow up so fast!

To Blog or not to Blog

So yes I have decided to join the blogging world. I really enjoy reading my friends blogs and so I got the bug to do it too. I was also thinking it is another fun way to keep a journal - a history of our family - FUN! So here goes!
